Thanks for the opportunity to serve as your 2017-2018 New England ASDA Secretary! I hope that together we can make our chapter, our organization, our school, and our profession even more outstanding in the coming year. I grew up in Turner Maine and am passionate about living, working, and playing in the 207. When I’m not at school, you can find me outside hiking and fishing, or spending time with my family. Before attending UNE, I received a BS in Biology from Susquehanna University (2016) where I was heavily involved in service and student leadership. I look forward helping promote organized dentistry, continue our chapter and program’s reputation of excellence, and help enable all of us here at UNE to achieve personal and professional growth.
Hi and welcome to ASDA! I'm currently a D3 here at UNE, and loving it so far! I'm originally from California, and went to college back there as well. I got involved in ASDA, because I really wanted to be a part of the bigger picture. This year I hope to get more students involved, because the more we get involved, the more our voices get heard. I'm excited to see what this year has to bring, and I hope you all have a great year ahead!
I'm a fourth year student at UNE and so excited to be the class rap for our final year on campus. I am originally from Michigan and received my bachelor's from the University of Michigan. I enjoy running, reading, baking, and watching Netflix in my free time. I've been involved with ASDA since my first year at UNE and have loved watching it grow; I'm looking forward to getting more people involved this year.
Immediate Past President
Once a guinea pig and now a doctor. That being said, I'll continue to feel like a student for many years. My time in ASDA continues as well. As I begin my professional career in Southern New Hampshire and being a past leader in this great organization, I look forward to being a resource for students navigating organized dentistry along with the necessary obstacles in dental education and the inevitable transition to the real world.
Hi, I am a D3 at UNE. Originally from Hong Kong and raised in Vancouver Canada, I can certainly say life is a lot colder on the East Coast. I have worked in both oral health and mental health research prior to attending dental school. Being the Historian for ASDA allows me to capture the events happening in our chapter and display them through our social media outlets. I look forward to working with everyone this academic year.
Hello! I found my way to UNE all the way from the Ottawa Valley in Ontario. Discovering ASDA as a pre-dental student was extremely beneficial and my goal is to continue to share and contribute to what ASDA has to offer. Prior to attending UNE I studied and worked in the health promotion field. I am excited to bridge my previous experiences with my developing clinical skills! My first year at UNE was amazing and it feels more like “home” every day. Part of that feeling has to do with our College of Dental Medicine community. My primary focus as a member of the ASDA EC is to engage students and assist them in figuring out what “getting involved” means to them. I am excited to be part of this evolving community and I am looking forward to the upcoming year!
Hello! I am looking forward to another exciting year in ASDA as I work to keep students well informed with GAPSA and offer career building opportunities. I moved to Maine with my husband from our hometown in Santa Maria, California. My career in dentistry began after graduating high school in 2007 when I attended a dental assisting program. After having the opportunity to work and volunteer in many dental offices and clinics, my desire to provide greater care to the community encouraged me to further my education as a dentist. I am honored to partner with UNE to provide greater access to oral health care in Northern New England.
Brandon Barnett is a Texas native and a member of the class of 2020. After moving to Atlanta, Georgia, Brandon received his Bachelors of Science degree from Morehouse College where he majored in Biology. He now plans to receive his DMD from the University of New England in 2020 and specialize shortly thereafter.
“After seeing all the great things our chapter of ASDA has accomplished, the decision to get more involved was a no-brainer! I was fortunately given this opportunity by my classmates after being elected to represent the collected class of 2020 as an ASDA Representative. I also serve as the current chair of the ASDA Pre-Dental Committee. Please don’t hesitate to reach out in person or shoot me an e-mail, I may be the representative for my class, but I also want to be a sound-piece for all of my CDM classmates.”
