About the Mentorship Program
To partner dental students with dentists in Maine to establish mentorships, provide shadowing opportunities, and promote professional development. This would give dental practices that are not involved with externships the opportunity to connect with UNE students. Through this mentorship program we will provide students and mentors the opportunity to build professional relationships, unite our profession and inspire the next generation of dentists.
How does the program work?
After applications are complete, mentors will be matched to protégés based on mutual interests and pairs will be notified. The program will officially launch on June 3rd at the Maine Dental Association Annual Session. Students and dentists are encouraged to attend this event. After the initial introduction, the relationship will be self sustaining. Mentor/protégé pairs are encouraged to maintain contact throughout the year and will be sent periodical emails from the UNE/MDA Mentorship Committee. There will be an exit survey after the academic year in 2018.
